A HomeAway Vacation Experience in Dorset, Vermont

Have you ever WISHED you could travel with your dog? When thinking about it what do you consider? For me, traveling with three dogs forces me to consider the destination and accommodation as a whole. The location must be within a reasonable driving distance due to air travel complications with three large dogs and the desire to enjoy a long weekend without spending a lot of time in the car. The accommodations must have extra space for the dogs to roam, an outside area or yard to get their energy out and a fully stocked kitchen for preparing food (for us humans). This definitely does sound like a detailed and complicated list for a long weekend, however we have found a solution to our cumbersome searches. It's called HomeAway. HomeAway is one of the leading online vacation rental marketplaces with more than 1 million listings worldwide. Let’s face it… travel is more fun when you can explore and experience it with your best buddies.

After dozens of successful vacation rentals with HomeAway it is my number one choice when planning a vacation. I am able to search, contact and book with ease and avoid any unpleasant surprises. At the start of my search I can enter desired location, dates, specific needs (maybe a hot tub?) and of course, dog-friendly. Check. With all these features to be considered, you would think that my results would be bare. However, because HomeAway has more than 60,000 dog-friendly homes around the US, my searches are never sparse and I always find something that suites our needs.

This past weekend we packed our bags and headed to Dorset, Vermont to stay at the 7 Springs House. After reading the description and viewing the beautiful photos we knew we were in for a treat. The ride is an easy 3 1/2 hour drive from Boston, and we made it without a potty break for the pups. Upon check in we nearly fell over from the majestic views and high end furnishings. This house far exceeded our expectations. The view made us feel as if we were in our own private hideaway with 2 LARGE ponds and spectacular mountain views surrounding us. The high beamed ceilings, massive great room comfortably decorated, welcomed us in with open arms. The home’s fully stocked kitchen had all the necessities to cook a full meal, which we did two nights out of the three. If you know us, this says a lot as we much prefer to dine at the local spots (which there were plenty of close by). Did I mention the bedrooms? Two bedrooms on the upper floor and three on the lower floor, all luxurious and each with their own tiled bathroom complete with a view.

We have loved staying in all of the homes we have rented in the past because they are much more than a hotel room. This home was no different. We were excited to be able to bring all of the dogs as well as a few family members. The homes we rented through HomeAway allowed us to create memories and put our minds at ease as we traveled with our four legged friends. We are able to cook meals at home, stretch out and enjoy each others company in a more intimate setting. When you split the cost of the home rental with other family and friends it is more cost effective than renting several hotel rooms. And if you decided to go as a couple or even solo there are plenty of options that are the same price or less than a hotel, but have many more amenities. We love the fact that we can enjoy our location by actually becoming a local for the long weekend and not another hotel guest. We’ve found that when we stay at vacation rental homes we get out and explore more, hiking local trails, roaming around town and experiencing the unique and beautiful setting each location has to offer.

Our experiences all over the North East in the homes HomeAway has to offer have been nothing short than exceptional and we are so grateful to have found a solution to traveling with Knox, Bear and Harper. Thank you HomeAway for allowing us to feel at home, away from home. #HomeAwayPartner
